CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - A 1-year-old girl is fighting for her life in the hospital after she suffered serious injuries under the care of her babysitter, Amanda Greger, in what her relatives describe as an ‘attack’ on the family.
While the infant, Layla, recovers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the 37-year-old Greger faces up to 23 years in prison for charges of child endangering, felonious assault and tampering with evidence .
“This is one of the most egregious things anyone can do on the earth,” Ricky Bilby, Layla’s uncle, said.
Layla was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago with brain bleeding, retinal hemorrhaging and other injuries.
Her uncle said, by the “grace of God,” she’s finally been moved out of the ICU.
