SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Elks Club held their annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner Thursday, Nov. 27.

The event, which has been organized by the Elks Club for over 25 years, served as both a celebration of the holiday and a way to show appreciation to local veterans and their families.

Jenni Schroeder, chairperson for the dinner, says the meal brings the community together as a family and described it as a family affair for the organizers as well.

“My parents are here, my husband’s in the kitchen, my kids on the line serving as well,” said Schroeder. It is my Thanksgiving. It’s what we do, and it’s pretty awesome. It’s a neat feeling and they’re really appreciative."
