A very lucky pup was chosen as the 2025 National Dog Show’s Best in Show on Thursday.

This year’s winner is Soleil, a black Belgian sheepdog from the herding group. As the name suggests, herding dogs are breeds that herd livestock, such as sheep or cows. Other herding breeds include border collies and German Shepherds.

Since 2002, NBC has broadcast the dog show every Thanksgiving, hosted by The Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Each year, one dog wins the top prize of Best in Show.

Soleil faced six other dogs in the final round, including George, an American foxhound; Tyler, an English setter; Neal, a bichon frisé; Dino, a giant schnauzer; Comet, a shih tzu and Baby Joe, a miniature schnauzer.

Last year, the Best in Show award was given to Vito, a pug.
