MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A death investigation is underway after a body was recovered from Lake Mendota Thursday afternoon, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Just after 2p.m., deputies with Dane County Marine and Trail and Madison Fire and Rescue responded to a report of an unconscious person in the water on Lake Mendota near North Shore Drive.

The person was recovered from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials did not release his name.
