MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Sheriff's Office says officers recovered a body from Lake Mendota on Thursday afternoon.
Marine and Trail deputies, along with members of Madison Fire and Rescue, responded around 2 p.m. to a report of an unconscious person in the lake near North Shore Drive in Madison.
The person was removed from the water and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Dane County Sheriff's Office said the person was a male, but did not provide an age.
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office will release the individual's name once his identity is confirmed.
The death remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
