DES MOINES, Iowa —
State Sen. Izaah Knox has announced his campaign for Polk County supervisor, for the seat currently held by Angela Connolly, in the 2026 election.
Knox, a Democrat, represents District 17. That includes parts of Des Moines' north side. He first took office in 2023 and is serving his first term.
In his announcement, Knox says he wants to address "day-to-day solutions people in Polk County need now."
“I have loved my time in the Senate, and I was sent there to help people understand the grassroots issues that affect urban Iowa,” Knox said. “But at this point, I know I can accomplish more as a Polk County supervisor. The needs in our community are urgent, and county government is where we can move quickly on housing, mental health, economic development, food insecurity,
