WASHINGTON — A day authorities said an Afghan national shot two National Guard soldiers, the Trump administration is reexamining all green cards issued to people from 19 countries "of concern."
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph B. Edlow said the "full scale, rigorous" examinations were at President Donald Trump's direction.
"The protection of this country and of the American people remains paramount, and the American people will not bear the cost of the prior administration’s reckless resettlement policies. American safety is non negotiable," Edlow wrote on social media.
The 19 countries include Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkme
