GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - While many families across Eastern Carolina enjoyed Thanksgiving meals Thursday, last-minute shoppers scrambled to grocery stores for forgotten items before their holiday feasts.

Shoppers hit the stores throughout the day, stocking up their carts and baskets with the final ingredients needed for their Thanksgiving celebrations.

“There’s always something you forget, no matter how many lists you make,” said Harry Kitch, a last-minute shopper.

The Kitch family was among those making final runs to complete their meal preparations.

“Our daughter-in-law does most of the shopping, but she forgot the dairy-free Cool Whip,” said Valerie Kitch.

Instacart shopper Lashawn Barrett said she made multiple trips to stores Thursday to help customers get last-minute items.
