Hi Gerry, g ood to see you back on the beat. You and Tych are still my faves and I know you both try to carry the torch for us long suffering (??) Edmonton sports fans. I can say long suffering right now because the Elks put us on the deathbed and the Oilers are finishing the job as we speak! Oh well, such is our lot as sports fans. — Phil Lawrence
I am not sure who you and the rest of the sports fans in this city wronged in a former life, but you have certainly been paying for it. Thinking back to the glory days of the Oilers in the ’80s just after the five-in-a-row Eskimos did their thing seems almost too good to be true now, doesn’t it?
Perhaps about the most Edmonton-esque picture to sum up that era so perfectly has taken in 1985, with Wayne Gretzky, Kevin Lowe and Paul Coffey dashi
