The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal had a blast from the past earlier this week, as locals opened the Edwardsburgh Figure Skating Club time capsule.

Edwardsburgh Cardinal council and staff gathered with former skaters, volunteers, and community members to open the time capsule on Monday, Nov. 24 at town hall.

Stephanie Summers, who was the club president in 2000, shared the story behind the time capsule. She spoke about the club’s early beginnings when Herman Baker founded the Edwardsburgh Figure Skating Club in 1967.

Baker had also played an important role in establishing the Spencerville Arena and reached out to women in the village for support.
