BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - A Bloomington shelter for the homeless has been providing Thanksgiving Day meals to people in need for more than 100 years.

Thursday, Home Sweet Home Ministries served Thanksgiving meals to people in need for the 108th year. This year, the organization delivered 515 meals to people in Bloomington-Normal and served about 100 meals to people from its shelter.

CEO Matt Burgess said despite the long government shutdown and SNAP benefit issues, he was surprised to find the need for a holiday meal was relatively the same as last year.

Burgess believes it’s thanks to the community’s generosity.
