The undefeated Oregon women zoomed past Old Dominion 84-46 at the Women’s Hoopfest Challenge, leaving the Monarchs (5-3) exiting the event in Frisco, Texas, with an 0-2 mark.
“All losses are tough to experience, but the growth that is coming from this will build championship character that will serve us in a major way within conference play,” ODU coach DeLisha Milton-Jones said on odusports.com.
ODU went ahead 4-0, but the Ducks (8-0) moved ahead 6-5 and remained in front, 20-11, 41-25 and 59-35 at each quarter’s end.
Kelsey Thompson led the Monarchs with 10 points, followed by Simone Cunningham’s eight and Simaru Fields’ seven. Cunningham brought down nine rebounds, and Riley Stack blocked four shots.
