This Thanksgiving, a Fort Worth church has a lot to be grateful for as construction moves forward on its new sanctuary, even after thieves took off with their building materials.

Pastor Brian Fisher said by this time next year, a recently razed plot of land on the west side of Fort Worth will be transformed into the new home of Longvue Avenue Baptist Church.

“We’ve started our public aspect of the work here. It’s bringing in the water main from the street up there. A driveway approach right here. We’ve got a sanitary sewer and storm drainage back here in the back corner. So yeah, we’ve come a long way since the last time we were here,” he said.

Back in August, Fisher showed NBC 5 two storage containers stripped of nearly $200,000 worth of building materials.
