PEORIA COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - Ameren Illinois blames high winds for causing an outage on Thanksgiving impacting hundreds of customers in the Mapleton area.
At 1:51 p.m., a spokesperson for the utility said electricity was restored.
Ameren’s outage map said power went out about 10:45 a.m. for 556 customers.
The outage was more than a minor inconvenience for people preparing their Thanksgiving meals.
In the words of one resident, “We are in the middle of preparing our dinner and our neighbors have to relocate and some of their food prep was ruined. This is a huge inconvenience and has ruined dinner plans for many of us.”
