A car crashed on Interstate 93 in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on Thanksgiving, sending three people to the hospital, including one person who was seriously injured.

Troopers responded shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday to the single-vehicle crash on I-93 and arrived to find three people with injuries, including one who was critical, state police said.

All three were taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, and they are expected to survive, police added.

The crash resulted in officials temporarily closing all three lanes of travel. Holiday traffic was directed into the breakdown lane until the roadway reopened.

It's unclear what caused the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
