PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 10-year-old girl is spending Thanksgiving in the hospital after a fire ripped through a mobile home in Phoenix, and Arizona’s Family heard from the witnesses who say they helped save her life.
The fire started at the home in the area of 30th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 10:45 a.m.
While investigators said they didn’t know where her parents or guardians were, a woman who lived with the family said she was inside with the girl.
Rosario Ayala said the little girl was asleep in her bed when she turned on the stove to cook.
She stepped out for a minute to grab food from the refrigerator outside and heard a pop inside. When she ran back in, she said the flames were everywhere and blocked the girl’s bedroom door.
