CENTRAL, S.C. —
As you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, you may not know it is also the busiest day for Christmas tree farms, and Upstate businesses are bracing to welcome families at high demand.
South Carolina farms are responsible for selling between 40,000 and 50,000 locally grown trees throughout the year, according to a report from Clemson University . Many businesses are generational.
Merry Christmas Tree Farm , in Central, is celebrating 45 years of growing, harvesting, and selling trees. Tracy Dobson, a wife and mother of three, tells WYFF News 4 she could not see herself anywhere else.
“My husband grew up working on the farm. That’s how he paid to go to college. It's something we've been doing so long that it's like second nature," Dobson said.
