BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - An almost 50-year-long “running” tradition brought in the largest crowd it’s ever attracted on Thanksgiving morning.
The 47th annual Turkey Trot in Bloomington had 2,300 runners sign up for the 5k and mile walk at Miller Park.
Bloomington Parks and Recreation Manager Cody Demas said not only did this year’s race and walk bring out a record number of participants, but they also raised $4,500 for Home Sweet Home Ministries. People were also able to donate food for the shelter.
Demas said the event is a tradition that many people, even those from out of state, bring their families to begin the holiday season.
