One year ago today, a lake-effect snow storm turned a holiday weekend into a major challenge for area schools, cities, businesses and individuals, as more than five feet of snow fell in some parts of the county.

Several days of cooperative work between the Ohio Department of Transportation and area governments eventually alleviated snow on the roads, but many buildings were severely damaged, including Lakeside High School.
