A television presenter has shared his health journey after discovering 'wine gum sized' lump just weeks after turning 50.
BBC journalist David Cowan, 58, was off work for six months as he received treatment for the cancerous growth but he feels it was 'worth it' as he now aims to help others get diagnosed early and boost their chances of a positive outcome.
David, from Edinburgh , quickly booked an appointment to see his GP after finding the lump on his neck. His GP, who later told him that she 'immediately' thought it could be cancer, referred him onto specialists and, a month after his first appointment, a doctor felt the lump and told him: "That's cancer."
Looking back, David said: "My awareness of mouth cancer was pretty much very, very superficial. I
