With Thanksgiving just a couple days away, drivers across Alabama are preparing for what could be one of the most congested travel weeks of the year. A new analysis from ConsumerAffairs ranked the top 20 cities with the worst holiday traffic, and one Alabama city ranked high on that list.

The new analysis shows just how dramatically road conditions can shift during the holiday season. Researchers reviewed federal data for the 50 largest U.S. metro areas, comparing fall traffic baselines to October-December patterns using four weighted metrics: hours spent in congestion, increases in miles traveled and fatal crash rates in both clear and bad weather.
