Home workers are set to lose a key perk after Labour Party Chancellor Rachel Reeves axed tax relief in the Budget. Home workers will not be able to claim back the cost of extra heating, electricity or broadband from next April.

During Covid , millions pocketed a flat £6-a-week allowance — but now relief for those with “no office to go to” is being axed. Only employers will be able to reimburse WFH costs tax-free.

Chancellor Reeves said her measures would put the public finances on a sustainable path while building “a fairer, a stronger, a more secure Britain” by tackling inflation and investing in large infrastructure projects.
