A Durham restaurant which never opened could finally welcome diners as a new venue is expected to open there.

The unopened Casa Peri Peri unit on Durham's Riverwalk is 'under offer', according to signage outside.

The flame-grilled chicken restaurant was due to open in November 2021, but the venue remained empty with its 'coming soon' signs still on the doors.

The Echo understands a restaurant brand is in talks with the Riverwalk to move into the site and take on the venue.

Riverwalk is currently home to Odeon, and a variety of bars and restaurants, with the Casa Peri Peri unit one of two said to be under offer, with the other being the former TGI Friday restaurant.

It comes as Rio Brazilian steakhouse will welcome diners to its new spot at the development on Saturday (November 29).
