'I met my husband of 34 years after going on TV for a laugh'

During the most recent edition of BBC Breakfast , hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty, who recently shared some heartbreaking news , looked back at the cherished 1980s television programme Blind Date.

This weekend marks four decades since the dating show's debut episode was broadcast, presented by the late Cilla Black.

The programme initially launched in 1985 and finished in 2003, though it made a comeback in 2017 with Paul O'Grady as host until 2019.

Throughout the show's run, numerous participants found matches and carried on their romantic journeys after filming ended, including married duo Alex and Sue Tatham.
