If you're seeing social media posts saying that President Donald Trump will send Americans $2,000 by Christmas or the end of 2025, that's not accurate. Checks could be coming, but not that soon.

Trump did say that citizens can expect money back from the country's tariff income. The president first announced the rebates on Truth Social earlier in November, and information on the plan has been coming out from different members of his administration since then.

The president said "individuals of moderate income, middle income" could expect dividends in the middle of 2026 while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office on Nov. 17.
