The Community House Association — a nonprofit in Birmingham facing public scrutiny after it announced earlier this month it wants to sell the 38,500-square-foot house that gave it its name — is under pressure from the city, which turned to the courts.

City commissioners — who are set to meet on Monday, Dec. 1 — have had two closed-door conversations about the city's role in the the growing conflict and whether the city should offer to buy the building.
