New photos show Sir Alf Ramsey in WW2 holding a Bren gun, rifle and bayonet as he served a soldier in the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry regiment in British army
This is England 1966 World Cup hero Sir Alf Ramsey as he’s never been seen before. He’s a soldier during World War Two. In one photo he’s manning a powerful Bren gun. In another he’s taking part in bayonet practice. And in a third he’s holding a rifle.
They give us a unique new insight into the man who led England to World Cup glory. They were all taken in Cornwall in 1941 and and 1942 as Ramsey helped protect Britain’s coastal defence from a feared German invasion. They have been found after being donated to Bodmin Keep: Cornwall’ s Army Museum.
