During Thanksgiving week, we are reminded that there are many people involved in caring for our dogs and finding excellent homes for them. Our 60-plus volunteers are the backbone of our organization and deserve heaps of thanks. Veterinarians and their staff keep our dogs healthy. Readers of this column are another important group of helpers and spread the word about our dogs to family and friends, nearby and far away. Thank you to everyone who cares that dogs are happy and safe.

For the past many months, we have been caring for two purebred Chihuahuas whose owner lost housing and has also been confronted with health issues, so the pups are now up for adoption. Wesley , a 4-year-old male with a white coat, weighs about nine pounds and is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Zuzu
