The redevelopment of a major Liverpool thoroughfare is now expected to be completed eight years after initially scheduled. A decade ago, the city council announced the £85m city centre connectivity scheme which included the reimagination of key areas including Lime Street and The Strand.
After much wrangling, the first part of the scheme outside Liverpool’s main train station was completed at the end of 2022. Work began on the first phase of The Strand – which encompasses Bath Street to James Street – in June 2020.
