RAPID CITY, S.D. — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is leading a bipartisan group of 39 state attorneys general urging Congress to pass the Tribal Warrant Fairness Act. The bill is designed to strengthen federal law enforcement support for tribal communities, especially in cases involving Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.

Jackley says the legislation would bolster ongoing efforts to protect Native communities in South Dakota and across the country.

The proposal would expand the U.S. Marshals Service’s authority to help tribal police locate missing children, allow tribal officers to serve on federal fugitive task forces, and require federal agencies to consult with tribes as the law is implemented.
