WASHINGTON — While announcing the death of 20-year-old West Virginia National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom on Thursday, President Donald Trump called to end immigration from the "third world" while claiming former President Joe Biden's policies allowed the suspected shooter into the United States.

Authorities say Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, entered the United States as the military withdrew its troops from Afghanistan and conducted air lifts in the country in 2021. Lakanwal was accused of shooting Beckstrom and another West Virginia National Guard member, Andrew Wolfe, on Wednesday.

Wolfe was in the hospital in "critical condition," according to Trump.
