The race for Christmas number one was thrown wide open on Friday morning when a TV behemoth launched her brand-new Christmas single.

Beloved children’s cartoon character Peppa Pig – who has threatened to capture the festive top spot before – announced her intentions on Good Morning Britain.

Hosts Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder interrupted their schedule by alerting viewers to the fact that there was ‘news from Peppaland’ of an urgent nature.

Richard Arnold, GMB’s Entertainment Editor, hinted at the big news: ‘Yes, Peppa Pig has woken us up early on Good Morning Britain, but what could the nation’s favourite pig be up to?’
