An Amber Alert has been issued for Mrs. Claus, who was discovered missing this week, when I began to deck the halls for the holidays. This teddy bear has not missed a Christmas in my house in more than 20 years. There is comfort and a reassuring sense of continuity in following traditions, especially during the festive season. While searching for Santa’s significant other, I recalled how she came to join my collection of Yuletide decorations. Found with St. Nick at a Boxing Day sale at Bloomfield’s Green Gables, she and the jolly old elf were an after-Christmas present to me from my husband, Alan. Article content

Although she arrived too late for Christmas, she did celebrate New Year’s Eve with all of my other bears, Santas and snowman figures and then was placed in a year-round display
