A doctor has revealed that a cupboard ingredient that costs pennies can help to stop food cravings in minutes. Prof Franklin Joseph, who founded Dr Frank's Weight Loss Clinic said that the spice can curb the yearning for sugar and carbs.
He suggests drinking cinnamon water as a way of controlling hunger pangs. His advice comes as emerging research in appetite neuroscience shows that some spices and strong flavours can dampen brain pathways that drive a yearning for some foods.
Cinnamon has compounds which improves insulin sensitivity which helps the body to manage carbohydrates better. And this can help to stop sudden dips which, in turn, bring on urgent urges for certain foods.
