A food tester in the White House is purportedly unnecessary for Donald Trump, with his own political biographer believing the president's diet doesn't require one.
Michael Wolff suggested the president's love for fast food means precautions on his prepared meals are not needed. Instead, the food checker is the fast food eatery itself. There have been past attempts on Trump's life, but it seems his diet has eliminated any chance of poisoning or poor health as a result of food intake.
Wolff, speaking on Inside Trump's Brain, The Daily Beast podcast, said, "Well, his food tester is Mr. McDonald. One of the reasons that he likes McDonald’s is that all this food is pre-packaged and nobody’s hands touch it. Therefore, it’s much safer."
The Fire and Fury author also confirmed Trump would not eat in the dining room of the White House during his first term. The president would instead act "like a feral child" and take his meals in the bedroom.
Wolff shared, "He liked to eat in his bedroom. In the bed, I suppose. When he originally got there, it really sounded like he was, you know, like the feral child." The president would "send out for" McDonald's often, and "it was always a burger", according to the biographer.
Trump's love of McDonald's has been well documented in the past, with the president once allegedly creating a "hideous Franken-burger". Republican National Committee chairman Joe Gruters seemed stunned by what the president would eat on a daily basis.
He shared, "The amount, and what the president eats. He had hot fries waiting for him from McDonald’s. Then he had a Filet-O-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac, and I think he combined two of them."
"I’m thinking to myself, how does the guy that’s as senior as him get away with eating all this McDonald’s on a consistent basis? Yeah, he loves McDonald’s brand. McDonald’s should be paying that guy – no kidding."
