HADLEY, Pa. - A licensed notary agent in Mercer County has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands from nearly two dozen residents.

According to a press release from Mercer County PSP, notary agent Ronald Scofield of Hadley allegedly stole a total of $5,528.50 from 21 victims between July of 2022 and September of 2025.

Troopers say Scofield was taking money for vehicle deals and not submitting the title and registration paperwork along with fees and taxes to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

According to the release, Scofield is charged with theft by failure to make disposition of funds, a third-degree felony, along with several other zoning violations found during PSP's investigation.
