Businesses in Glasgow have voted in favour of a plan which will see them pay a levy to fund improvements to the city centre. After a six-week ballot, the Let’s Go Glasgow business improvement district (BID) was approved by a clear majority of eligible firms.

The vote has secured a mandate for a five-year programme, which it is hoped will improve the cleanliness, safety and vibrancy of the city centre. Starting from April next year, the BID is expected to see around £14.5m of business-led investment in the first five years.
