Manitoba Labour and Immigration is reminding employers of their obligations under provincial safety laws after a Brandon plumbing company was fined in connection with the death of an employee exposed to hydrogen sulphide.
Lockhart Plumbing and Heating Ltd. pleaded guilty on May 28, 2025, to failing to provide adequate training, information and supervision under section 4.2(b) of the Workplace Safety and Health Act. The offence relates to an Oct. 19, 2022, incident in which a plumber sent to a residence to investigate a sewer odour was fatally exposed to hydrogen sulphide while attempting to clear a drain.
