Hoodoo Ski Area is stepping into the future.
The Santiam Pass destination is introducing online sales, an app, electronic tickets and a pricing system that rises and falls based on conditions for the 2025-26 season.
It may feel like a shock to longtime skiers and riders who’ve become used to Hoodoo’s old-school style that featured a “sticky ticket on wickets” for lifts through last season.
“We were definitely one of the last ski areas of our size that still had wickets,” Hoodoo general manager Matthew McFarland said with a laugh. “We had people who came here from out of state that were totally confused by it. Some people did like that it hadn't changed for 30 or 40 years."
Change is coming this season, however, and McFarland thinks it’s ultimately for the better.
