The recent article regarding the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles and the level of investment in them by the state of Maryland ( “Orioles, Ravens spur 9-figure spending in Maryland. Is it enough?” Nov. 21) questions the return to Maryland on the hundreds of millions of state investment in the two sports franchises. And that’s even before the added $1.2 billion now being invested, in part, to expand and upgrade the experience for stadium premium (rich) customers.
As our state tax structure has poor counties too often subsidizing rich counties, it is appropriate for the state to significantly invest in Baltimore but imagine if we spent such sums on our schools, our seniors and our infrastructure.
