Musical artist Ray J was arrested over the Thanksgiving holiday in Los Angeles, authorities confirm.
The 44-year-old singer and actor, whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr., was taken into custody Nov. 27, following a domestic violence call, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY.
Ray J was charged with section 422a of the California Penal Code, which refers to a person "who willfully threatens to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person." While there were no reported injuries, multiple firearms were recovered at the scene, police say.
He was released on $50,000 bail following the arrest, according to ABC and the Los Angeles Times.
The case will now move to the district attorney's office.
USA TODAY has reached out to Ray J's reps for comment.
This month's arrest is just one dot in a larger constellation of legal trouble Ray J has faced. In 2014, the "One Wish" singer pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual battery, vandalism, battery on a police officer and resisting a peace officer. The charges stemmed from an alleged groping of a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel bar and resisting arrest afterward.
The singer is also facing a lawsuit from ex-partner Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner over claims of defamation, People and Variety report. The mother-daughter pair claim that Ray J defamed them when he compared their behavior surrounding a 2003 sex tape of him and Kardashian to the RICO suit faced earlier this year by Sean "Diddy" Combs.
