Richard Zamboni, a long-time president of the Zamboni Company which has a manufacturing plant on Morton Avenue in Brantford, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Huntington Beach, California.
Zamboni, who was witness to the development of the world’s first self-propelled ice resurfacing machine that his father, Frank J. Zamboni, patented and introduced in 1949, was 93.
Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, Richard joined his father’s company in 1957 and worked tirelessly to build the company and brand that would become internationally renowned. He became president of Zamboni in 1976.
“He was like his dad. He kept working right up until the very end of his life,” said Paula Coony, brand director for the company based in Paramount, California.
