Birmingham's cutest village will host its popular Christmas Festival this weekend, but as usual, one thing will be absent from the proceedings.

Bournville Christmas Festival takes place on Saturday, November 29 with wonderful, wholesome family activities including a Santa's Grotto, Christmas tree trail and craft and community stalls.

But while merrymaking will be high, it'll be done dry - Bournville has a no-booze policy, putting paid to any hopes of swilling mulled wine or weissbier on the village green.

The village, created by George Cadbury for the chocolate factory workers, has no pubs, no bars and a no-alcohol sale policy.

George Cadbury was a Quaker and the village has always been a drink-free zone because of his temperance beliefs.
