As we roll into the final weekend of the Walleye Fall Brawl, the leaders are holding their breath for no other whopper fishes to be set on the scales. Or at least any that would knock them out of contention.
One thing in their favor may have been the latest weather event Wednesday and Thursday on Lake Erie where forecasts predicted gusts up to 60 mph that would create what is called a “seiche.” This is an oscillation of waves caused by strong winds basically forces water out of the lake’s western basin and into the eastern part. What results is a skewed water level that would expose parts of the lake’s bed by 50 inches and flood up to 20 feet over normal depths to the east, according one meteorologist’s report.
For fishing, this will definitely keep boats and Brawl hopefuls off the water
