Plans to demolish Rutherglen police station have been approved after the run-down building 'reached the end of its useable lifespan'. All officers and staff had been moved from the Rutherglen site to Cambuslang police station, which is two miles away, in August because the building had deteriorated so much that it was no longer a suitable working environment.
Lanarkshire Division's Superintendent Julie Davenport said: “Rutherglen police station is currently vacant and has reached the end of its usable lifespan, making it no longer economically viable to maintain.
“After careful evaluation and consideration of various options by our Estates team and given the condition of the building, we have decided to demolish Rutherglen police station.
“We have decided to retain the site as work
