SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — The Goreville Blackcats and Fairfield Mules are the consensus picks of league coaches to win the Black Diamond Conference boys basketball races this winter.

The Blackcats are coming off a 32-4 overall record from last year that included a perfect 12-0 run through the BDC West.
