Two people died in a fiery plane crash in the White Sands area near Alamogordo, New Mexico, authorities said.
New Mexico State Police were notified by the U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center of a missing airplane about 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Nov. 26, New Mexico State Police said in a Facebook post.
The plane took off about 11:30 a.m. from the Alamogordo White Sands Regional Airport and was scheduled to return within one hour, the post said. Airport officials reported the plane missing after it failed to return. The last known coordinates of the plane pointed to it being in the White Sands area south of Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
A coordinated search was conducted by state police officers, along with the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, Alamogordo Police Department, Otero County Emerge
