A fire in a restaurant is causing chaos in the Isle of Dogs this evening (Friday, November 28). The Crossharbour DLR station has been closed due to the “heavy smoke” the fire is producing.

Locals are being advised to keep their windows and doors closed. Ten fire engines rushed to the scene on Pepper Street after they took four calls to the fire at around 4.16pm.

Crews from Millwall, Whitechapel, Plaistow, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

The fire is situated within a ground-floor restaurant, which has flats above. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
