It affects one in eight men in the UK but an influential committee of experts says there should be no routine screening for prostate cancer for those aged over 50.
The Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he’ll examine the evidence thoroughly before the final decision is made next spring.
But campaigners have called it a missed opportunity for many in high risk groups.
