For an easy nature excursion, the Deerfield Beach Arboretum features about 200 trees from different parts of the world. The nickname for the venue is “Tree Zoo.” Entry is free.

The arboretum is on about nine acres with a walking path. The route includes flowering tropical fruit trees, exotics, palms, wetlands, bamboo, natives, butterfly garden, and tropical rain forest with waterfalls.

Tours are offered usually 10 a.m. first Saturdays, and it's a good idea to phone the park, 954-250-4162, to verify the tour is on the day you are interested in. Tours are free. For group tours, a donation of at least $25 is required.

The arboretum, which is part of a public park, is at 2841 W. Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield Beach 33442. Parking is free.
